There's never been a better time than now to start a new career.  Established in 2013, we have coached and guided our students to successfully prepare for the State Licensing Exam.  In the State of Hawaii, 570-hours of classroom instruction and practical hours are required.  Workshop description and Program Objectives are detailed in our KMI Student Brochure available for download.  down below.

PROFESSIONAL MASSAGE WORKSHOP COURSE DESCRIPTION
By the end of this workshop, we will have covered:
Anatomy/Physiology and Structural Kinesiology (50 hours) Introduction to the human body, the chemical level of organization, cell, tissues, integumentary system, skeletal system, joints, muscles, the nervous system, the spinal cord, the brain, the automatic system, the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system, metabolism, the urinary system, and the reproductive system.  Course text: The Human Body in Health & Disease Gary A. Thibodoeau & Kevin T. Patton Theory and


Demonstration of Massage Therapy (100 hours) consists of the following - Massage history and theory, general benefits of massage, record keeping, hygiene/sanitation, the proper procedure in massaging (concerning the protection of both client and massage therapist), standards of practice, ethics, body mechanics, draping/positioning, specific massage strokes, assessment of client’s condition(s) and the general technique to be applied, contraindications of massage for specific techniques according to conditions, technique for specific conditions, full body (Swedish) massage, consulting, and front/back office. Course text: Mosby’s Fundamentals of Therapeutic Massage by Sandy Fritz, Sixth Edition 

LICENSING APPRENTICE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This 570-hour massage therapy program is designed to teach students the principles of basic anatomy, physiology and structural kinesiology. This workshop is exceptional in providing core competencies essential for successful Massage Therapists. The workshop is structured and sequenced to provide students with an intrinsic knowledge, comprehension, and application of Massage Therapy techniques in order to be prepared to take the Hawai’i State Licensing Examination.

This disclosure is to avoid confusion that may include misleading information such as, name of workshop that could imply approval by the Department of Education (“DOE”). The separate pathways are identified below:

Workshop training is a pathway toward partial qualification for licensure and is limited only to the academic course of study and not the practical training.

Institutional education from a DOE licensed school is another pathway. DOE school license requirements include general financial stability, adequacy of facility and equipment, preparation of school brochures and catalogs, surety bond requirements, fitness of school principal to operate a school, and may include a school inspection among other things.

How do I register for the next class?

Application Process

Applicants are encouraged to register at least a month prior to their desired class start date.  This will allow adequate time to complete and submit all required documentation.  Class sizes are limited and positions are reserved only when all required documents and financial obligations are met.

HOW TO APPLY:
     1.  Complete and submit an online KMI Student Application ( located down below)
     2.  Each Application must include:
           a.  Valid Driver's License or Government Issued Picture ID
           b.  TB Clearance (due by Phase II:  Practical Training)
Once your KMI Student Application is received, a Meet & Greet will be scheduled with the Principal Massage Therapist.  This is required to assess that each applicant is physically and emotionally ready, willing and able to adhere to the requirements and policies set forth by Kapolei Massage Institute, LLC.

Hana Lima Scholarship Program (HLSP) Brochure

The Hana Lima Scholarship award is a $1,500 award to be used toward tuition, fees, books and other required tools or uniforms for a vocational program.  Scholarship checks are mailed directly to the school or program.

Hana Lima Scholarship Program (HLSP) Application - SPRING 2025

The purpose of this Hana Lima Scholarship Program is to give financial assistance to students participating in a vocational or technical education program for occupations that can provide a "living wage."  This need-based scholarship is available to students in vocational programs that lead to a specific segment of employment.  Deadline: 
April 30, 2025 at 11:59 PM HST (Midnight).
